Born on third base

This book gives me a pretty good impression at first. It seems like a book for USC students or any other kids who are in the middle or upper class in the country. I think this book provides us with a new perspective on how to treat our wealth, our role in the society as well as our contribution as a human.

Firstly, I have to say admire his action of donating most of his wealth to the society and clear recognition of what other invisible wealth or privileges he got from his family. However, if I were him, I wouldn't think in this way to donate all the money. In today's society, I do think people like Collins should act himself to use his fortune and knowledge to promote the development of society. I have several friends who like Collins comes from a pretty rich family. It is good to hear some of them think that it is their duty to work more for the society and contribute themselves into social work. I agree with Collins that we need to let people from the top 1% to do something for the society.

Moreover, the book provokes me to think about the huge income inequality situation everywhere in the world. To be honest, Collins case is rare and I think it is hard to tackle this issue. Especially in China, the circumstance is more complicated. So many people got rich because the recent development of the country but they lack of the growth in mental wealth and knowledge. Such in-equivalence may cause bigger social harms in the future.
