Because of holidays and schedule of classes, I have 3 days off for like a month since the new semester began. This is a great time to see Netflix and movies for a whole day and indulge in it. I have read lots of movies and tv shows. So, I want to make a recommendation list here and explain the reasons for their rank.

Movies:
  • El Ciudadano Ilustre(the Distinguished Citizen)
The protagonist is a recipient of the Nobel Prize for Literature who writes about people of his hometown. After he went to Europe, he never came back again to that little town in Argentina. The whole story begins when he decides to come back and accepts an invitation to receive a prize--the distinguished citizen. In that little town, he finds never things has not changed. I want to quote one comment from IMDb," this movie is an extreme case of that: going back from a first world to the third world he came from. " To me, it is the case that idealism faces the cruelty of reality.
  • Call Me by Your Name
One comment is enough. It is not about gay love or specifically for certain group of people. It is just about love.
  • Dangel
This film is an Indian movie based on a real story, telling the story of Mahavir Singh Phogat, a former national wrestler, who trains his daughters to become India's first world-class female wrestlers. The whole movie is about 2 hours and 45 minutes even it is shortened version. The full length should be around 3 hours. Even though it is pretty long, it is definitely a magnificent movie, especially for India, a country where the idea of gender equality still in the initial phase. Really touching.
  • Blade Runner 2049
Highly recommend seeing three short films before you watch Blade Runner 2049. It is about 3 hours and 15 minutes. If you are not a big fan of sci-fi, avoid might be good.

TV shows:
  • Carbon Altered
Can you imagine one day that people's souls can be stored in a chip and technically you can be immortal? However, it doesn't change anything, but widen the income gap?
  • The Westworld
The whole episode 1 is excellent, especially the ending. Also, its director is Jonathan Nolan, the brother of Christopher Nolan. Westworld is an amusement park for high social status guest who can do anything in the park without retaliation from the hosts. I think the episode might be the revenge of hosts to human.

  3. I haven't heard of Westworld before but I want to check it out because I like Christopher Nolan's other films, especially the Batman trilogy. It seems like an unique sci-fi thriller.

  5. Westworld is awesome! I can't wait for the second season to come out! Blade runner was such a slow movie, but I guess they were trying to replicate the same production style as the original movie.
